Investigate

When your playing mechanism feels a little tired, achy and sore, do you brush off those whisperings of discomfort?

Many musicians habitually practice with too much muscular effort (tension) – not just in their fingers, hands, lips or vocal chords, but throughout their bodies. It is this excess that can lead to discomfort, pain and even injury. Temporary relief of pain can be found, but symptoms tend to reappear because of the underlying habits of excess effort (tension).

Using simple stretching routines, musicians can improve flexibility, opening up muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and the energy fields that spread throughout the body. This improved flexibility expands physical perception and improves both physical and mental health.
